The Coleman 8 Person Tenaya Lake Fast Pitch Cabin Tent with Closet

Coleman 8 Person Tenaya picThe Coleman 8 person tent is a large luxury tent which is designed for spaciousness and a quick set-up. It has various systems designed to make the camping experience more pleasant for the everyday user. It attempts to stand out from the crowd by offering a built in closet and a hanger bar.

While this is innovative many may believe that the addition feels forced and unnecessary. With the Coleman 8 Person tent it seems that you will either love it or hate it with some users having a phenomenal experience and others regretting their purchase.

Product Details

This tent is quite large having dimensions of roughly 3m x 4m x 2m (9’x13’x6’8”). It is fairly light coming in at 16 kilograms or 35 pounds. It comes with a carry bag and a rip strip making transport easy and carefree. It also comes with a rain fly and frustration-free packaging. Included in the tent is a divider to section off areas. This enables privacy between rooms if so desired.

Design

The design of the Coleman 8 Person tent is quite simple. It is almost rectangular- shaped as to allow a consistent vertical height throughout (as opposed to slanted walls). The colour scheme is different shades of blue a grey roof and yellow stripes. This may be off-putting for some but most won’t mind. Overall it is designed quite well with no major complaints from customers.

Features

Let’s take a look at the features of this tent and what makes it stand out from the others. With this tent it is obvious Coleman has made an concerted attempt to be innovative. Apart from the built in closet it claims to harbour a number of systems that set it apart from the crowd.

The first claim it makes is that it is able to be set up 55% faster than conventional Coleman products and is also 75% more water resistant. While this is a great step forward it calls into question the authenticity of other Coleman products and thus the brand itself. If this tent is able to be made 75% more water resistant what is the state of its other tents?

It also claims to have a WeatherTec and Fast Pitch system. The WeatherTec is apparently the utilization of inverted seams and padded floors to keep out rain and the Fast Pitch system involves pre-attached color coded poles to enable ease of use. The success rate of these systems based on the reviews seems to be quite mixed.

Verdict

Coleman 8 Person Tenaya 2 picThis tent really is the recipient of mixed feedback. Some people swear by it, claiming its spaciousness and various features make it a must have. Others, however, have had problems with the exact same systems, claiming mismatched poles and struggles in setting it up. In conclusion, while this tent may be great for some, caution should be taken when ordering it. A lot of people have found themselves unsatisfied and with a $260 price tag you really want to be sure what you’re getting is of top quality.

Product Details

The Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 is a 6 man, highly accessorized tent. It is quite spacious with dimensions measuring 5.18 m x 2.74 m (17” x 9”) and a 2 m vertical height (6”4’).

This would fit either 6 people or two double beds so there’s more than enough room. It utilizes a combination of fibreglass and steel poles for structural support. The mesh roof enables. weather permitting, one to fall asleep beneath the stars without having to sleep outside.

Design

Although from the outside the Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 may appear to be bland. Inside this tent the views are amazing. The blandness is due to the colour scheme which makes use of grey and a simple blue. It’s not a major issue and most will have no problem with the way it is set up but for the more aesthetically inclined of you out there it may take some getting used to.

In terms of design, what makes the Coleman Elite stand out is the views the expansive windows provide. By having mesh on the top, one, on a nice night, can lay down and fall asleep under the stars. I mean really, what’s not to love?

Features

The main selling point of the Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 is its numerous innovative features. The first is an inbuilt 100-lumen battery powered LED light for nighttime. This enables one to avoid bringing lanterns or torches and provides an easy to use apparatus that doesn’t require a lot of setup.

The second feature that is of note is the Colemans self-rolling windows. These are patented and offer quick, easy entry to the tent and also allow ventilation when needed. Finally, the WeatherTec system makes use of inverted seams and padded flooring to make sure you stay dry throughout even the most heavy rainfall.

Verdict

Coleman Elite 2 picThis tent, overall, has received largely positive reviews. The tent itself is quite expansive, allowing for a luxurious feel and easy movement within. The innovative accessories such as the automatic windows and the in-built light switch also distance it from its competitors.

The main problem experienced, as with other Coleman products, is construction flaws which exist for some users. But with the Coleman Elite it doesn’t seem to take away too much from the finished product. If you’re looking for a tent that provides homely comforts and expansiveness, consider the Coleman Elite.

Black Pine Pine Crest 10-Person Turbo Tent

Black Pine Pine Crest picThis 10 man self-defined turbo tent is renowned mostly for its incredibly quick setup time. Proclaiming a setup time of mere minutes the Black Pine sets itself apart from the crowd. A patented design that keeps all poles together enables the user to set it up whenever they want and even in the dark.

It also proclaims to use the best materials and craftsmanship in its design. Sound too good to be true? Well it is. Sort of. The Black Pine comes with a hefty $750 price tag. But if you have the money and value quality and ease of use, then maybe the Black Pine is the tent for you.

Product Details

This tent measures 6m x 2m x 1.8m (21”8’ x 7’ x 5’11”) and comes in at a relatively high 28kg.

It utilizes aluminum poles to keep the weight from increasing any further and these are part of its turbo system that allow it to be set up in minutes. It is lined with 150-denier ripstop polyester and has a 210-denier nylon floor. It has two side windows and zippered pockets.

Design

The Black Pine isn’t too aesthetically pleasing. Opting for a singular greyish colour the tent comes across as quite plain. If this isn’t an issue for you then the rest of the design is quite sound. The poles and material are all extremely sturdy and are bound to last a long time. Another design factor that could be improved is the addition of mesh windows to the roof to allow for nighttime viewing.

Features

Of course the main feature of the 750 dollar Black Pine tent is its quick set up time. No other tent can match it. Purportedly being able to be set up in mere minutes this is really the tents main selling point. It can also, however, divide into three separate rooms which would suit anyone who is a little more privacy inclined.

Other notable features are its large awning which stretches out over the front door and is a part of the rainfly. In all, while not having many features, the Black Pine certainly has an impressive main one but is it worth 750 dollars? Well, that’s up to you.

Verdict

Black Pine Pine Crest 2 picWhile the Black Pine certainly is innovative, one has to wonder whether $750 is a fair price to pay for a few minutes of your time. If it is, then go for it, but if not then one has to consider if maybe more time was spent on design and alternate features whether this tent would be more worth it.

It is made of exceptional material and the customer satisfaction rate is high across the board so if you have the money and this is something you’re looking to buy then it’s highly recommended. If, however, you are strapped for cash, there are plenty of other options out there that are still easy to set up but won’t set you back just as much.

Utilizing grey, black and a very light green the Tahoe is aesthetically pleasing due to its minimalist use of color. If you’re worried about weight, even with its size it only comes in at just over 20kg.

Design

Arguably, the Tahoe is beautifully designed. It’s sleek and its most notable aesthetic feature is its large array of windows. Having 6 large windows at the front alone it offers views from all angles. The tent body measures at 1200mm and is made of polyester.

A fly canopy is also included which stretches out for any inclement weather although one of the few complaints made about this tent is that the fly canopy is not long enough. If you’re a camper who enjoys an aesthetically pleasing design, the Tahoe is perfect for your needs.

Features

The Tahoe is home to many different features that attempt to make it stand out from the crowd. The polyester tent wall provides protection from unpleasant temperatures while the sheer amount of windows allows for fluid ventilation on cooler, or warmer days.

It is also extremely waterproof, holding itself during even the most intense downpours. The most attractive feature for this tent, however, is its size and according weight. While holding almost double the amount of people than that of the 8 man tents it does not sacrifice portability, coming in at barely 4 kg more than most other large tents.

Verdict

Tahoe Gear Glacier 14 Person 2 picIf you are a fan of spaciousness and openness then this is tent for you. With windows stretching across the entire front and a 7 foot centre height you’ll feel right at home out in nature.

The space allows for any accessories you may need and the tent could even double up as a small marquee for events. It also comes in at the low price of $325. With consistently good reviews and a price tag only slightly higher than the 8 man tents the question is, if you’re a fan of spaciousness, why wouldn’t you buy a tent like the Tahoe?

Design

The Igloo Log Cabin tent is aesthetically unique, providing a themed space that will be enjoyed by most. Another important aspect of the tents design is its size. Overall, users found it to be more than sound. The one apparent issue with the size, however, is with the entranceway.

Many found problems with bringing larger accessories and bedding material through the space which they found to be a little too small. Apart from this, however, there were no overall problems, with the dimensions with spaciousness being appreciated across the board.
